Le Zoe Musings is one of my favorite blogs. Kellie delivers in each post amazing and fun photography (which keeps me coming back) and a few highlights from her day or week, including those involving her adorable little one, Zoe (with one on the way!). Kellie is a prime example of style and sophistication that any woman can envy!

We teamed up with Kellie to do a Holiday Giveaway over at Le Zoe Musings and couldn’t be more excited to present the opportunity to you to win either Mistletoe & Ivy or Pink Peppermint!

Mistletoe & Ivy is one of my personal Holiday favorites and one of my best sellers for the season. It reminds me of a warm and cozy atmosphere where you can imagine the soft glow of Christmas lights and Bing Crosby playing in the background.

Pink Peppermint is a scent I blend completely on my own by hand and was inspired last Holiday season by Bath and Body Works, Twisted Peppermint. As soon as I smelled that one, I knew I had to make my own spin on the scent! It’s a blend of Pink Sugar and – you guessed it – peppermint!

The deadline for this entry is December 18th. Here are the entry guidelines found on Kellie’s blog:

1. Be a follower of Le Zoe Musings blog and like LZM on Facebook.

2. Leave a comment sharing why you love candles and which scent you’d prefer: Pink Peppermint or Mistletoe & Ivy

My Holiday Coffee Table

Abscents is featured on one of my favorite blogs! Check it out!

Hello!

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! We had our first Thanksgiving celebration at our new home and it was incredible. Nothing fancy- just enjoyed a nice dinner and spent time w/ loved ones.

Unlike the hubs, I didn’t splurge on Black Friday although I did get some clothes for Zoey online. We went to Home Depot where he was like a kid in a candy store. For this pregnant lady, it was exhausting. I don’t really care if a 22′ ladder is on sale for an incredible $125! Nor am I interested in conversing about utility benches. I just wanted to sit b/c my swollen feet were achy. That was my Black Friday experience.

Today we started decorating our home for X-Mas. The Christmas tree is up although not done (we can’t find our tree skirt or ornaments!!) and I started adorning our fireplace mantel with rows of poinsettias.

How To Fix A Candle After It Tunnels

candle tunneling

In the beginning when I was researching everything candle related, I learned that when a candle “tunnels”, it’s a bad thing. The goal is the have a smooth and even surface. When a candle tunnels, you’re wasting a lot of wax on the side and therefore not really getting your money’s worth. Sometimes you’re left with a lot of wax that can still be melted, which means there’s a lot more lovely scent to smell, too!

So how can you prevent this? Some candles are poorly made and will tunnel no matter what you do, and this is mainly do to wick size. In the above picture, the wicks are a little too small (in my opinion) for the jar. Three wicks would have been better considering the size of the container, and you would get a much better even burn. Instead, it started to tunnel.

Sometimes tunneling happens due to the very first time you’ve lit your candle. You maybe allowed it to burn in perhaps 30 minutes or less and blew it out for whatever reason and didn’t get a good wax pool going. Candle wax has “memory” and the next time you light your candle, it will “remember” how far the previous wax pool was and only melt to that point. What you need to do is on that first burn, allow the candle to stay lit until there is a complete and even wax pool, meaning the wax has completely melted to the edges of the container. Otherwise, it will melt through the center of the candle, wasting a lot of wax. I’ll show you what I mean in a picture.

But let’s see how you can fix this. I learned this trick by watching many youtube videos a while back. The best way to do it is by getting some aluminum foil and wrapping it around the candle, making a dome shape on the top.

This allows the heat to stay in and melt the wax on the sides, and in an hour or so you should have a good even wax pool. Please be careful when removing the foil, it will be hot.

This is one scent that I also didn’t introduce properly and finally have a picture for it on the site.

It’s said that this is the fragrance Kate Middleton wore on her wedding day! This is a gorgeous Gardenia scent – and I don’t normally go for floral scents! This comes in a 12 oz jar and 6 piece clamshell wax melt.
